Howe Caverns

The ever gracious David surprised me with a trip last month.  Knowing how I loved our trip to Luray Caverns in Virginia, David took me to Catskill, NY to visit Howe Cavern.  Though I think the NY cave is not as spectacular as the Virginia cave, the former has a charm unique to itself.  David, on the other hand, loved the whole tour as it included a boat tour.  He paid for the latern tour package which included an overnight stay at the facility's motel.  It was an international event as members of the tour were mostly from other countries like Russia, India (although I believe India now owns America owing to their ability to multiply fast in a year.  Also three to four families in a house altogether including grampa and grandma).

At the entrance of the cave.

David was amused of this tight path.

Ooops, we have company.

Chaz, the tour guide.

I wonder if some of these rocks are made in China.

The pagoda.

Chaz: "This is where Batman used to live."

Chaz: "I can move these rocks with just my bare hands."

The boat tour.

David was so amused with his lantern.  He said it's so hitech.

David couldn't contain his amazement over his hitech gadget.

The lobby of the cavern.  You have to go down the elevator to get to the caverns.

The motel where we stayed.

Row, Row Your Boat Gently Down the Stream (Pittsford, NY)

This is what you will see when you go walk, eat or sit by the canal.  Rowers were practising for a competition.

Summer Heat in Spring

It was almost 90 degrees out today. David and I were sweating like we were being roasted. We kept on taking out cold water from the refrigerator. At lunchtime I suggested we eat by the Pittsford canal and enjoy the view and the breeze.

Asians generally hate being exposed to direct sunlight for fear of getting dark skin.  Asians with dark skin are considered belonging to the lower social status, i.e. having dark skin means you work in the fields etc.  To European Americans sunlight is like manna from heaven.  Guys and gals barely wear clothes for fear that they may miss areas in their tanning  routine. Well, I guess the dermatology business is still in boom.  Hence, more visits to the doctor's office for skin cancer treatment.

This is our favorite pasttime- eating out.

Feeding the ducks and geese.

The famous view.

Bodilicious.

The more skin exposed the better.

Julia Child's kitchen at the Smithsonian Museum

I recently watched "Julie and Julia". Boy, was I glad that we wereable to see her kitchen at the Smithsonian Museum of American History when we were in Washington DC. I also watch repeats of Julia Child's cooking show over WXXI's HD channel 433 called "Baking with Julia". She had Martha Stewart last time. Julia Child is fun to watch. David would tell me stories about her and the way she delivered she lines. After watching "Julie and Julia" David rummaged through his garage if he still has Julia Child's cookbook. Sadly, he must have donated it to Vietnam Vets.
