Early Morning at Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

We strolled Waikiki beach early morning yesterday.  There were not a lot of people, even surfers, at the beach at that time.  Usually the beach is pack before noon. 

We are always roaming around the island and thus I have no pictures of people sunbathing at Waikiki.

A 'Nice" Way to End 2009...

by having a car accident.

David and I were on our way home from Walgreens when it happened. The light was red and so we stopped when a car behind us hit us and shoved us under a chevrolet pickup truck in front of us.  The impact was great that it knocked off my eyeglasses. There were no damages to both cars that sandwiched us, but oh boy, David's car was wrecked (see pictures below). Good thing he was driving the car that day.  I usually drive for him. However, I was dismayed because we were talking about me buying the car from David as I need a vehicle for my clinicals.  It's a 2009 Toyota corolla and I loved it. Good thing David has another car or we would have been stuck at home for a month.  On the other hand, David is concerned that they culprit doesn't have an insurance to pay for the damages.

Now my back and shoulders hurt.  I have lidocaine patches. I took pain medications. And we are going to Hawaii next week. However, we were so glad that nobody was badly injured. 

Today, we went out hunting for cars again.  I guess we may have to get another corolla, a red one which I picked from the car dealership. I would have wanted a van but it doesn't give you a good gasoline mileage.
Now, we are driving David's Lexus with care.  And he's the one driving it.

“Why does God matter?” Author Christopher Hitchens to debate Rabbi David Wolpe

at The College at Brockport.

On December 02 at 9:15 pm, students, faculty and the public are invited to attend a wide-ranging debate centering on that very question at The College at Brockport. Christopher Hitchens, the New York Times best selling author of God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything will square off against Rabbi David Wolpe who has been rated the No. 1 Rabbi in America by Newsweek and is the author of Why Faith Matters: God and the New Atheism.

Lives and worldviews are sure to collide as Hitchens and Wolpe argue the timeless question. Tickets are available to the event at the Brockport Student Government Box Office beginning Tuesday, November 24. There is a limit of two tickets per recipient and the prices are as follows; Students with Brockport identification- $2, intercollegiate students with college identification - $10, faculty and staff - $10, and the general public - $10.

Brockport Student Government is sponsoring the debate. Hitchens and Wolpe have met once before in a similar exchange at the Temple Emanu-El, one of the world’s largest synagogues, in front of 1,500 attendants.
