Amy Bloom leads off Brockport's Writer's Forum

Acclaimed author leads off Writer’s Forum

BROCKPORT, NY - Acclaimed writer Amy Bloom will lead off this year’s Writers Forum at The College of Brockport. The lecture will be held at the New York Room, Cooper Hall, Wednesday, Sept. 10, 8 p.m. It is open to the public.

Bloom first gained popularity with the publication of her nonfiction book Normal: Transsexual CEOs, Crossdressing Cops, and Hermaphrodites with Attitude based on her study on gender as psychotherapist for more than 20 years. Her stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines. Her collection of stories Come to Me was nominated for a National Book Award while another collection A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her novels Love Invents Us (1997) and Away (2007) also received critical acclaim. She teaches Advanced Fiction Writing and Writing for Children at Yale University.

The Brockport Writers Forum has hosted distinguished literary figures since 1967. It also sponsors workshops, symposia and festivals dedicated to the art of writing.
