In Search for El Dorado

Finding Eldorado Canyon State Park is indeed like discoving a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. David and I were in Boulder City visiting these little stores and eating at a restaurant there when David decided to look for the tourist center in the area to ask for directions going to the canyon. Most of the residents there don't know that El Dorado exists (or, were they just playing innocent?) The visit to the tourism office was worth it. And knowing David, who makes a short story into a novel in just one sitting (read: he asks, talks and makes acquaintances with everybody), we were directed to follow the yellow brick road (without the dancing shoes).

Eldorado is part of the Colorado State Park system. It is located in Boulder County. We probably went to the undeveloped area, but boy, what a find. Word of caution though, before you head off to the place be sure to have your gas tank filled full and bring plenty of food and water. There are no stores or any stopover areas in the place.

Warning: No gas sold here.

A little village with no people around. Creepy.

Oops, is that a remain of a plane?

Lake Mead up ahead.

Some locals visiting the place.
